Romania’s budget for 2021 will be built with a deficit of 7% of GDP, Prime Minister Florin Cîţu announced, adding that the budget will not slow down the Romanian economy next year, Agerpres reports.

“For next year’s budget we stick to what we have said so far: we are in favor of fiscal consolidation, which means that we will build a budget with which we will reach the Romanian Parliament with a budget deficit of around 7% of GDP, which shows, on the one hand, our firm commitment to fiscal consolidation and, at the same time, is a budget deficit that, in the current economic context, does not slow down the economy, “said Cîţu at the end of the government meeting.

“Fiscal policy remains stimulating in 2021, it is true that, as we estimate, in the first part of the year it will shift to a neutral fiscal policy in the second half of the year,” said Prime Minister Florin Cituu.

In addition, Prime Minister Cîțu announced the cap on the income of public servants. The Head of Government specified that there will be no salary cuts in the next period and that the income of public servants remains at the level of December 2020, and a comprehensive analysis will be made in this regard.

At the same time, the bonuses will increase by 10% from January, and the pension point by 8% from September, political sources informed Digi 24.ro.
