Professor Alexandru Rafila, harsh criticism at the start of the vaccination campaign: “I think the festivities cost more than the vaccine”

Alexandru Rafila: I will probably get vaccinated in April

“They will vaccinate me. You know that I went through the infection and Monday, December 21, was the first day that I came out of isolation. They will vaccinate me, probably in a few months, in April most likely. I leave the natural cycle of the disease should continue on its way (…) Of course, I will also take doses of antibodies until then, but in April I will probably get vaccinated, because I also need a strengthening of the immune response, and the vaccine offers this opportunity, especially since there are many people who have done that some forms of disease may not appear apparent.

There are people called asymptomatic who do not know that they have been through the disease, but they are vaccinated and this is not a problem for them. “They do not have to do the test separately, on the contrary, it is good to get vaccinated and that strengthens their immune response,” he said.

Rafila criticized what he called the “holiday” with which the first tranche of the COVID-19 vaccine was received and estimated that the money spent on such “festivities” was higher than the cost of the vaccine received.

Alexandru Rafila: ‘Parties’ cost, I think, more than the vaccine

“For the two boxes of vaccines that arrived, we are talking about two boxes of vaccines each containing five secondary containers, which were made of carbon dioxide (…) it seemed a bit festive to me: traveling by helicopter, waiting at the border for the vaccine … I mean, in the end, the expenses involved in these ‘festivities’ were, I think, higher than the value of the vaccine received.

I think we should be modest and carry out an information campaign because, from what I have seen, the information campaign is a bit out of place. It had to start at the same time as the approval of the vaccine by the European Medicines Agency and medical personnel must be trained quickly, all medical personnel, because they are the source of information for the rest of the population.

I believe that the battle for the duration of the vaccination is based on the quality of the information and communication campaign ”, stated Alexandru Rafila in a B1 TV program.
