Several teams of the Maramureș police were involved on Friday night towards Saturday in an action to search and immobilize a commercial vehicle, tractor, on the Sighetu Marmației – Baia Mare route, with shots also being reported.
Eyewitnesses who published information, images and videos on social networks claim that a truck was seen in different places followed by 4-5 police patrols, Mediafax reports.
A few hours after midnight, the Maramure County Police Inspectorate reported that on Friday, around 11:00 pm, “a vehicle was reported stolen from Sighetu Marmației. The Maramures police took measures to intercept him ”, more precisely, they set out in search of the alleged thief, who was on his way to Baia Mare.
According to the IPJ Maramureș communication, in the Baia Sprie local police, the police executed a signal to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued his journey towards Baia Mare.
On Europa Street, the Baia Mare ring road, in the roundabout area of the Baia Mare exit to Dej, the driver was summoned by the police, who subsequently fired several shots at the car’s tires, stopping the vehicle. , also states LEI Maramureș.
Until the tractor came to a stop, it collided with a special vehicle inside the Baia Mare Road Bureau.
IPJ Maramureș claims that the driver was identified as a 27-year-old man from the village of Hărnicești, Desești commune. He was immobilized, handcuffed and transferred to the police headquarters for investigation.
No casualties were reported in the incident. The police are continuing the investigation in this case. Witnesses who posted on Facebook about the incident saw the chase in Baia Sprie, on Grănicerilor Street in Baia Mare, and at the place where the tractor stopped.
According to witnesses, the immobilization of the vehicle was carried out with the help of a checkpoint made up of police vehicles.
They also claim that the persecuted driver tried to break the dam, after which a police car was damaged, a fact confirmed by IPJ Maramureș.
After the stolen van was stopped, the driver got out of the car and tried to flee, and was eventually arrested.
