“The Titulescu European Foundation announces, with deep regret, the death of Mr. Gheorghe Lupeș, Executive Secretary of the Association for International Law and International Relations (ADIRI).

A career graduate, Gheorghe Lupeș was born on December 23, 1940 in Poduri, Bacău county. He graduated from the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute and attended postgraduate courses in international relations and foreign trade. In 1965, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served in diplomatic missions in Belgrade, Washington, Lusaka, Harare, and Bratislava. Between 1990 and 1992 he headed the Africa Directorate within the ministry and in 1994 he was appointed Consul General of Romania in New York. In 2007 he was elected Executive Secretary of ADIRI, he was fluent in English, French, Serbo-Croatian and Russian and published numerous articles on international relations. During the weekly meetings of the Association, which he coordinated in recent years, he began discussions on current issues in the contemporary world, being an active promoter of professional, involved and competent diplomacy.
