Holidays were canceled this year, on National Day. There are no more parties, no more beans in the caldera, no more parades. Even Bucharest’s Arc de Triomphe parade was reduced to a ceremony attended by only a few state officials.

The December 1 parade was always the time when dozens of soldiers and employees of the Ministry of the Interior and Penitentiaries paraded under the Arc de Triomphe. Added to this were military equipment and special vehicles.

Every year the sidewalks were filled with people. Everything turned into a celebration in the true sense of the word and everyone felt Romanian on National Day. This time, both the people and those who marched watch from home, but the place will be deserted.

Laura Epuraș, platoon leader of the Capital Gendarmerie Cavalry: “She is Rita, during this period we should have participated in the rehearsals for the parade on December 1. It is the first time she is resting during this period and I think she likes it.”

Laura and Rita marched together last year at the head of the Pluto Cavalry.

Laura Epuraș: “It is like a moment of glory that crowns the work of the whole year, it is a day in which you do not feel tired after days of training that moment in which I raised my sword and saluted and you know that a whole country See is unique. I don’t think I’ll ever experience that emotion again another day.
In our souls we regret that it was a moment we were all waiting for. “

Ecaterina Diaconu is part of the Bucharest Honor Guard. He says that the moment of going under the monument is full of emotion.

Ecaterina Diaconu: “It is very important to attend on December 1, because it comes as the culmination of a year of activity. It is a special feeling.”

This year, the military says it helps the homeland by staying home on National Day.

Costinel Naidinoiu, Captain of the Military Police: “It is not a feeling of joy, but a debt to the society to which we belong, to their families and to all the people of the country.”

Rozsa Sándor of the 2nd Mountain Hunter Brigade: “Alma, I will pass under the Arc de Triomphe this year as well.”

Constantin Sergiu Gabriel, Lieutenant of the 2nd Mountain Hunter Brigade: Initially I was a bit disappointed, but I understood what were the factors that led to the cancellation of this year’s parade.

Pumnea Marian, leader of the 2nd Mountain Hunter Brigade: “It saddens me that this year we will not participate in the parade on December 1, but I hope we have a good time and we will be with the Romanians with the soul.”

The military, gendarmes, firefighters and police watch the small events organized on December 1 from home. Everybody says that Romanians should pay attention this year to the doctors fighting on the front lines of the pandemic.

Laura Epuraș, platoon leader of the Cavalry Capital Gendarmerie: “We thank the doctors from the bottom of our hearts for this effort, and we assure them that we are doing everything possible so that this effort is not in vain.”

Pumnea Marian, leader of the 2nd Mountain Hunter Brigade: “I send a lot of health, joy, a lot of work to those on the front lines and we are proud of them making superhuman efforts to support the medical system.”

Rozsa Sándor – 2nd Brigade of Mountain Hunters: “I wish the doctors and medical personnel good health, great joy! We are proud of them!”

The official ceremony organized by the Ministry of National Defense on December 1, at the Arc de Triomphe Square in Bucharest, will not be an event open to the public. The ceremony, which will begin at 11 am, will be attended by about 150 soldiers.

During the ceremony, a moment of silence will be observed in memory of the Romanian heroes who fell on the battlefields for the reunification of the Romanian people and the victims of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, 21 cannon shots will be fired and President Klaus Iohannis will present a wreath and give a speech, ”announced the Ministry of National Defense.

The ceremony can be followed and online, by accessing the Facebook page of the Ministry of National Defense.

On the occasion of National Day, representatives of the army will participate in the preparation, organization and performance of small-scale ceremonies in some garrisons where large units and military units are deployed, and soldiers on missions outside the national territory will carry out military ceremonies in a restricted environment.

Too, the national flag will be raised in all the military institutions of the country, and the Great Turkey will be hoisted aboard maritime and river boats.
