President Klaus Iohannis says the pace of the WHO recommendation to reopen schools should be “read to the end” and adapted to the conditions demanded by the pandemic. The infection rate in our country is very high and the conditions for safe physical education cannot be created or guaranteed to protect children and their families. That is why it is necessary to do online education, the head of state explained on Sunday.
The Ombudsman’s Office asked the Ministry of Education and Health for a point of view, a few days ago, on the closure of schools, in the context in which the WHO recommends that classes be held in the classroom, with the physical presence of students and teachers. The Ombudsman stated that two years have been lost for a generation, a statement with which President Klaus Iohannis declared that he did not agree.
“It is true that students and parents lose a lot by not being able to take physical classes in class, but these recommendations must be read to the end. Of course, The recommendations are for students to go to school when safe measures can be provided.so when possible walk safely. Given that in our country the contagion rate is very high, these conditions cannot be created or guaranteed and to protect children and their families, unfortunately, it is necessary to do online education ”, he said. President Klaus Iohannis answers a question about the Ombudsman’s approach.
“The better we follow all the measures, the sooner the children will be able to return to school. It’s a fairly simple equation, easy to understand. I know it’s not always easy to respect, but I guarantee you: it’s worth it!” – pointed out Klaus Iohannis .
