President Klaus Iohannis detailed, on Monday, after a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Health, how the vaccination campaign will be. The president explained that the vaccine will be administered in stages to the population, at work, in specially designed centers and including “drive-through”. The president also highlighted the need for an information campaign to combat false information and stressed that vaccines, once approved by the competent bodies, “are safe, effective and the only viable solution to end this.” pandemic “.

Statement from President Klaus Iohannis:

“The COVID-19 pandemic has radically changed the lives of all of us, globally affecting the health of people and the ability of economies to function. Limiting the effects of this pandemic is a zero priority for all governments around the world, and Researchers are trying to provide us with a solution to this crisis as soon as possible. The COVID vaccine has now become our hope of returning to normal life as soon as possible.

At the beginning of the pandemic there was a lot of uncertainty, there were many unknowns, which turned the fight against the SARS-VOC-2 virus into a real race that we faced with a formidable opponent.

But now, when vaccines have become a certainty, we are beginning to look optimistically at a way out of this major medical crisis.

Until then, however difficult it may be for us, we must be patient, responsibly respect the preventive measures in force, which are beginning to bear fruit, because the evolution of the pandemic in our country continues to be very worrying.

When the vaccines go out of production, we will have to make sure that we are ready to distribute them to everyone, fairly. That is why I called today a meeting with the Minister of Health, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of the Interior to discuss issues related to the anti-COVID vaccination campaign.

The cessation of the pandemic and, implicitly, the protection of the lives of Romanians depends to a large extent on the effectiveness of this campaign.

We are facing a real national security problem, which we address with the utmost responsibility, in order to guarantee the safety of the citizen.

The authorities have mobilized very well and, currently, we have an anti-VOCID vaccination strategy, which will be approved in the coming days, and we have organized a clear structure, the National Steering Committee for vaccination activities against SARS- VOC- 2.

Likewise, all the mechanisms for the supply, storage and involvement of human resources at different levels have been established, as well as the action plan, with clear stages.

The vaccination strategy against COVID will be submitted for approval at the meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defense, which I will convene in the next period.

I want to emphasize that the three ministries – the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior – have collaborated very well to establish responsibilities and courses of action, to adequately prepare procedures and ensure the availability of medical personnel for the process. vaccination. maximum security.

We also discuss the need for medical vaccination services to be easily accessible to the target categories, which implies a logistical effort and safe transport, adapted to the characteristics of the new vaccine.

According to the strategy, the priority groups for vaccination against SARS-CoV2 include: health personnel, all health personnel, as well as those from residential and medico-social centers, the population at high risk of severe evolution in case of contagion and the personnel of key areas, essential for the proper functioning of society.

Vaccination will be carried out in stages, and the definition of the vaccination stages and their initiation will be established in accordance with the approval, production and assignment of one or more vaccines to each country, using a specific procedure according to the vaccine.

Vaccination will be carried out in the workplace of health personnel and through fixed and mobile vaccination centers, mobile teams, the family medicine network and transit centers for other categories of the population.

The distribution strategy will take into account the specific storage and transport conditions necessary for each vaccine, being the Ministry of Defense who will ensure the management of the central warehouse, as well as the 6 regional warehouses, from where the distribution will be made to the local centers of vaccination. fixed and mobile.

Clear and transparent communication with citizens, and especially with target groups, is essential, as is the fight against misinformation and the spread of false information.

All official information will be communicated on a special website dedicated to the campaign. The National Steering Committee has already held discussions with both professional organizations and patient associations and intends to continue holding a series of meetings with medical staff, but also with representatives of the media.

It is very important to know that vaccines, once approved by international organizations, are safe, effective and the only viable solution to end this pandemic. “
