The fittest players of the Tournament of Champions put on a show of great days in the last act of the competition. Medvedev came back after losing the first set and didn’t give up until the end. The Russian athlete won in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, after two hours and 44 minutes and became the sixth “champion of champions” in the last six editions.

Medvedev, was not wrong in the Tournament of Champions

Medvedev had a perfect run in London, defeating anyone in his path. The world number four won every match in the group, including against ATP ranking leader Novak Djokovic, and passed Rafa Nadal in the semifinals. The Russian won the ninth but most important title of his career and has a series of 10 consecutive victories.

Following the success of London’s O2 Arena, Medvedev relaunched the score in direct confrontations with Thiem. However, the Austrian is still in the lead, 3-2. Medvedev is the second Russian player to win the Tournament of Champions, after Davydenko, in 2009.
