Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiţă from the Central Military Hospital will be the coordinator of the national anti-COVID vaccination campaign. The announcement was made by President Klaus Iohannis at a press conference.
He added that the vaccination strategy will be made public next week.
„LAt the European level, we have reason to be optimistic and there is clear progress on new vaccines. Romania, as part of the European agreements, must be prepared to properly manage this campaign and that is why we have called a new working meeting on this issue at the Cotroceni Palace. I would like to inform you that, as a result of the development of the vaccination strategy against COVID-19, which will be made public next week, the authorities have set up the organization itself to effectively implement this strategy.Iohannis said.
„At today’s meeting, a coordinator for the national vaccination campaign was also appointed, in the person of Mr. Valeriu Gheorghiță, general practitioner for infectious diseases at the Central Military Hospital.
As already mentioned, vaccination will be carried out in stages and will begin with certain groups of the population, established in epidemiological and medical criteria. It involves, in a first phase, medical personnel, risk groups, but also workers in key sectors such as education, national security, transportation, energy, water supply and food.Added.
„General measures have already been established for the organization of vaccination, measures that take into account the specific storage and transport conditions required for each product, but also special aspects, such as vaccination teams, places where the process will be carried out and programming population.“Said the president.
„Once again we ask the experts, but also the authorities, to communicate these measures clearly and transparently, both to medical personnel and to the general population. I believe it is especially important to combat misinformation and fake news that instill mistrust and have a deeply damaging manipulative effect. As long as the scientific evidence supports the safety and efficacy of vaccines, whose occurrence is in any case directly conditioned by the opinion of the relevant scientific bodies, and points to them as the main factor that can end the pandemic, we must join forces to implement a effective vaccination campaign. , which will allow us to return as quickly as possible to the normality that we all wantAdded.
Iohannis says that Romania will overcome this health crisis andI that we are already starting to see the effects of the measures taken.
„PTo be sure of the results, we must stay the current course, follow the rules and I am sure that we will see even better results in two weeks. These days, being a just, responsible citizen, in solidarity with the enormous effort of doctors means showing civic sense, it means strictly respecting current names.Added.
