Neonatologist Emilia Biber, 70, a leading figure in neonatology and pediatrics in Hunedora, died after being infected with SARS-CoV-2.

The representatives of the Municipal Hospital „Dr. Alexandru Simionescu ”from Hunedoara announced on Friday that Dr. Emilia Biber passed away from COVID-19.

Emilia Biber, 70, was born in Alba County, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hațieganu” in Cluj-Napoca and worked at the Hunedoara Municipal Hospital for more than 40 years.

In recent years, he has held the position of coordinating physician of the hospital’s Neonatology Department.

In 2018 he retired, but kept in close contact with his former colleagues.

“Municipal Hospital” Dr. Alexandru Simionescu »Hunedoara is today mourning the disappearance of Dr. Emilia Biber, pediatrician, a leading figure in neonatology and pediatrics in Hunedoara. Born in Alba County on October 18, 1950, Dr. Biber graduated from the “Iuliu Hațieganu” Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca and worked in the hospital for more than 40 years. He raised with love and devotion his two children, his daughter Bianca, a lawyer by profession, and his son, Horatiu, who inherited his mother’s vocation and is a doctor in Germany.

Dr. Biber continued to dedicate himself to the profession and was generously present among us until the very end. In recent years he has held the position of coordinating physician of the Neonatology Service within our hospital and has always been concerned about and involved in the problems that have arisen in the exercise of this function. He retired in 2018 but maintained close ties with his former colleagues.

It is a time of crossroads and a great loss for all those who were his colleagues, patients or friends. The management of the municipal hospital is with the grieving family and sends, in this way, its deepest condolences.
