Robert’s story begins in 2017, when he was preparing to become a border guard. It was then that he donated blood for the first time. Since then, he has become a permanent donor. Hired as a border guard in Curtici, the man from Oradea donated more than 9 liters of blood in the last two and managed to save the lives of 90 people.

In fact, Robert became known thanks to the Blood Network campaign, carried out by the organizers Untold and Neversea. Americans learned of the young man’s story and were deeply impressed. Not by chance, for over a week Robert’s face has been projected on billboards in Times Square, New York, along with that of three other blood donors.

Representatives of the Interior Ministry released their story on Facebook.

“23 years and 60 lives saved.

He is Robert and he is a border policeman, but more than that, he is one of the constant blood donors in Romania.

His story begins in 2017, when he was preparing to become a border policeman.

– We come to you with a request. A person struggles between life and death in a hospital bed. You need blood urgently for the transfusion. If you want to help, we would appreciate it, said the commander of the students gathered on the unit board.

“I donate,” said Robert, the first to step forward.

It was my first time to donate blood and I didn’t know the exact procedure, but I wanted to help.

This first experience made him understand how important blood is to a patient in serious condition.

Upon graduation from school, when Robert was assigned to his own county, he went to donate blood to the Oradea Transfusion Center.

There a person approached him:

– I am the coordinator of this center and I want to thank you for your gesture, because there are fewer and fewer donors. I want to ask you something. There is a great need for blood, there are many people who need a transfusion. Wouldn’t you like to become a permanent donor?

– That I have to do?

– At your age and health, you can donate once a month. Join our program, you could save many lives.

“You don’t have to pray for me!” I promise to be here every month!

From then until now, Robert has kept his promise and with his blood has helped 60 critically ill people.

One thing she regrets is that in a month she couldn’t donate, because she was on vacation. But to make up for it, he motivated his colleagues, so last week they all went to donate blood to the Transfusion Center.

He is Robert, he is 23 years old and so far he has helped 60 people … we repeat this because what he does is extraordinary!

Robert, we salute you with respect, admiration and appreciation! Thank you!

Blood donation saves lives!

PS: Your story ended up being projected on one of the billboards in Times Square, New York. Robert and three other donors became known there as true heroes through the Blood Network campaign of organizers Untold and Neversea. I wanted you to meet at least one of them! ”, Is the message published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of the Interior.
