The authorities are analyzing the possibility of Sibiu being quarantined, after the contagion rate for coronavirus in the municipality exceeds 11 per thousand inhabitants. Sibiu prefecture announced that a meeting of the Sibiu County Emergency Situations Committee will be held on Friday, which will be attended by DSU chief Raed Arafat.
“The epidemiological situation will be analyzed and in accordance with art. 12 of Law 136/2020, the zonal quarantine decision will be made based on the proposals of the Sibiu Public Health Directorate, endorsed by the National Institute of Public Health. All this will be done in the presence of the commander of the action, Mr. Secretary of State Raed Arafat, ”announced the Sibiu Prefecture.
Subprefect Rareș Macrea announced Wednesday night, during a meeting of the County Committee for Emergency Situations, that the city of Sibiu will not be quarantined. “We did not establish this, the decision belongs to the Directorate of Emergency Situations,” said Deputy Prefect Rareș Macrea, according to the publication Turnul Sfatului.
When asked about the possibility of Sibiu being quarantined, Prefect Mircea Cretu, on medical leave following the SARS CoV-2 infection, said the situation is under continuous analysis. “Depending on the proposals of the specialists, given the evolution of the epidemiological situation, it is possible to take new measures. The situation is always in the attention of our team and I am convinced that the necessary measures will be taken, ”said Prefect Mircea Cretu.
Sibiu and three other towns, proposed for DSP quarantine
DSP Sibiu proposed the quarantine of Sibiu at the National Institute of Public Health. According to the cited source, the director of DSP Sibiu, Gabriel Budescu stated during the CJSU meeting that he proposed the entry of the Sibiu municipality into quarantine, but so far he has not received a response. “DSP carried out a risk analysis for certain localities. When we receive this opinion, we will proceed with the implementation of these measures. This risk analysis proposes the quarantine of certain localities, including the city of Sibiu,” said Budescu.
The localities where quarantines were proposed are the city of Sibiu, the town of Șelimbăr and the cities of Cisnădie and Tălmaciu.
Sibiu County, the first to exceed the incidence rate of 7 per thousand inhabitants
Sibiu County has the highest infection rate in Romania, more than 7 per thousand inhabitants, most of the cases in Sibiu, according to official data.
According to data released by the Strategic Communication Group, Sibiu County reached 7.19 on Wednesday, down from 6.89, announced on Tuesday.
After Sibiu is Cluj County, with a rate of 6.9, followed by Timiş County with 6.52 and Sălaj with 6.46. The incidence rate in Sibiu is 11.18, increasing by almost one percent, in two days.
