It was a special year for Romanian players: 10 of them participated in the few scheduled post-pandemic tournaments, and for some of them this period was splendid.

Simona Halep managed to win three titles in 2020, first in Dubai before halftime, then triumphed in Prague and Rome before Roland Garros. He participated and in the Australian Open where he reached the semifinals. That is why Simona kept her second place in the ranking.

Patricia Țig, in the best WTA ranking of her career

The Roland Garros tournament brought out the best classifications for two players from our country. Patricia Țig had an excellent September, with 7 victories on the WTA circuit. The title in Istanbul and the third round at Roland Garros brought her to 57th place, the best of her career.

Irina Bara, also a victim of Sofia Kenin at Roland Garros, also made an impressive leap. He reached 116, a new personal record, after 142 last month, and had previously advanced 21 positions after the final in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
There are three more players in the top 100: Irina Begu, Sorana Cîrstea and Ana Bogdan, the last one moving up one place, at 97, after losing on Parisian clay to finalist Sofia Kenin.

It was less pompous for Mihaela Buzărnescu and Monica Niculescu, while Gabriela Ruse is ranked 177 in the world, the best of her career.
