The Prefect of the Capital announced this Tuesday afternoon what restrictions will take effect on Wednesday, October 7 in Bucharest, in the context of the vertiginous increase in COVID-19 cases in Romania. Gheorghe Cojanu explained that all these measures are valid for at least the next seven days or as long as the incidence rate remains above 1.5 per thousand.

The main statements of the prefect of the Capital:

The activity with the public of economic operators that carry out activities of preparation, marketing and consumption of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic products, in the type of restaurants and cafes, inside buildings, is not allowed in Bucharest.

An exception is made for accommodation units – hotel, pension, the like – where it is allowed to serve indoors only for the lodged.

The activity of showrooms, concerts and the like is prohibited. When the rate returns below 1.5 per thousand, these activities will resume.

The presence of people around the schools – it was found that people do not wear many masks – it was necessary to wear the mask of children over 5 years old and adults between 7:45 – 21:15. It is the obligation of the General City Council and the district councils to delimit these spaces, as I think appropriate, even with a simple painting, which shows that they are 100 meters from the school.

Intensification of control activities at fairs, markets, public transport and the perimeters of schools: here the world does not even think about wearing a mask.

Employees affected by the restriction of economic activity – HoReCa and shows – will benefit from the support measures, according to GEO 120/2020.

When the incidence rate falls below 1.5 per thousand, communicated weekly, the Emergency Situations Committee will meet immediately and order the resumption of all activities.

Journalist: Religious processions? CNSU referred to pilgrimages, this is not the case with us, we do not impose any measure in this regard, it is about Iași at this time, where there is a traditional manifestation, that is, Santa Parascheva.

Journalist: So we won’t have restrictions on weddings, baptisms? We will have, because it is prohibited inside the buildings. Outside, outside, nothing was forbidden.

Reporter: Are there no restrictions on private events? We will have, because it is prohibited inside the buildings, it is implicit that there will be no baptisms, weddings.

Journalist: Will the event rooms also be closed? Exactly, they belong to the same category.

Religious processions are not prohibited. The pilgrimage was banned by last night’s decision. The theaters will close, starting tomorrow, and the cinemas and shows, absolutely everything, until the return to normality.

Journalist: Casinos and gambling? I don’t know yet, we are waiting for CNSU to take that step and we will adapt.

Journalist: Have you talked about the transition of some schools to the red script, to learn only online? All schools that have been affected, if three students are reached, they go to the red stage. Now that we do not have it, the School Inspection will communicate when necessary.
