Members of a Bucharest Tenants Association obtained in court the demolition of a block of flats built in the green space, next to the building where they live.
It is the second construction for which the inhabitants of the Șoseaua Giurgiului neighborhood obtain the demolition in the courts. They complain that the green spaces between their blocks have been returned to them and ended up in the hands of developers who began building other blocks and suffocated their neighborhood.
In Bucharest there are many illegally erected buildings, for which there are final demolition decisions, which have not been implemented.
The developer of this building block will now have to demolish it. The concrete was poured onto reclaimed land that had originally been a green space. The building is very close to another block built decades ago.
Dan Trifu, vice president of Eco Civica: “It is a green space, the law protects it more than that the land is in sector 4 and the construction permit is issued by sector 5. He ordered the cancellation of the permit and take the land to the above situation “.
The residents of this Giurgiului Road neighborhood have been fighting in court for years with various developers who have built new housing blocks in the green spaces between their housing blocks.
Tania Radu is the president of a tenant association. It shows us on a map the lands returned between the old blocks. In total 1 hectare.
This is the neighborhood in 2005. The blocks had been designed with generous green spaces between them. 13 years later, after restitutions and many building permits, the neighborhood was filled with people.
Tania Radu says that even the green space on the boulevard has been returned, along with the car alley. And last year the owner put up a fence, which he did not remove until the mayor’s office intervened.
I contacted for a point of view of the administrator of the company that built the block to demolish. He told us that his attorney would contact us for a reaction, which has not happened yet.
