The Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior, Bogdan Despescu, announced on Tuesday the establishment of a new structure within the IGPR, called the School Security Police, which will have the function of increasing security around schools, but also of combating violence. juvenile delinquency.

Despescu specified that the new structure will collaborate with school units and local authorities, and will begin its activity at the beginning of the school year.
“Taking into account the permanent concern of the MIA leadership to meet the objectives related to the safety of students and teachers, the Minister of the Interior decided to establish a separate structure within the Romanian police. The newly established structure will improve and strengthen the partnership between the school and the MIA – local authorities There will be a much greater and more active presence of police officers in the school environment, respectively in the educational process. The police will identify the environments conducive to the commission of crimes and will establish permanent links with the representatives of the educational units, with the representatives of the NGOs, as well as the local authorities ”, added Despescu.
The secretary of state also said 266 police officers will work on the new structure.
