Coronavirus patients hospitalized at the Victor Babeș Hospital in Timișoara are treated with a new technique. It was used for other lung diseases to prevent respiratory failure. This is not the first time that the doctors in Timișoara apply an innovative treatment.
Doctors in Timisoara have been using this new non-invasive treatment technique for several weeks. Basically, patients have a mask placed on their face, which helps them breathe better.
The technique was applied until now for other diseases, for patients who had difficulty breathing, but now doctors use it to reduce the number of patients infected by coronavirus, in order to reduce the number of those who will need mechanical ventilation in the room . intensive care.
Doctors say that this mask helps patients to breathe, the procedure being different from mechanical ventilation, which is applied in the intensive care unit, where the patient arrives when his condition is already serious.
There are 20 of these devices in Timisoara and five patients already benefit from this technique.
Doctors say that in recent weeks they have used this treatment and that patients who have benefited from the new technique have not reached intensive care.
