Children who suffer from chronic diseases or have at-risk family members can attend school exclusively online, to avoid the risk of coronavirus infection. Asked on Tuesday night, on Digi 24, if parents can opt for online school without having such a situation in the family, Education Minister Monica Anisie said that at this time the rules do not contemplate this possibility.
  • “For now, the rules of the joint order allow parents who have people at risk of illness in the family to ask the school to continue learning at home. So that the child can continue the online courses after the parent does a health assessment of family members, “said Monica Anisie.

Asked if the father can opt for online school without having such a situation in the family, Anisie said that at this time the rules do not contemplate this possibility: “Now, according to the rules that we have approved, he does not have this possibility to choose that, I repeat, if the child is sick and will be exposed to the risk of disease or if there is a person in the family who could be at risk of exacerbating the disease.

The parents of the student in such situation must notify the school and present a certificate issued by the family doctor. “Most people already have these certificates, since they are chronic diseases,” Anisie said.

This provision is included in the joint order of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, which can be modified.

  • “However, this joint order foresees the possibility that both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education carry out instructions in such a way that we can eliminate all possibilities. When the Ministry of Health drew up these norms we could not foresee all the aspects and then it is an article in the common order through which we can offer other instructions ”, added the Minister of Education.

The Institute of Public Health will present on September 7 a diagnosis for each locality on the situation of COVID-19 cases, and based on this, the school boards will decide in which of the 3 scenarios the school will start, said Tuesday the Health Minister. Nelu Tătaru. He said that in the most desired scenario – school classes – it is essential to respect a distance of 1 meter between students, special circuits and differentiate the schedule in primary school.

The 3 scenarios to start school:

  • Green scenario (S1): conducting courses with the physical presence of students and teachers.
  • Yellow scenario (S2): conducting courses with the partial physical presence of students and teachers and partially online; the exceptions are 8th and 12th / 13th grades, who participate in daily courses with physical presence (see green scenario).
  • Red scenario (S3): conducting courses exclusively online
