The Minister of Education, Monica Anisie, asked Prime Minister Ludovic Orban to dismiss the head of the National Central Procurement Office, Cornelia Nagy, for the “catastrophic” result of the tender stage on the purchase of tablets for students, reports Agerpres.
“The Ministry has started the procedures for the acquisition of 250,000 electronic devices since May 7, when the amount of 150 million lei was assigned by Government Decision. All the institutions involved, including the National Acquisition Center, have agreed to conclude, in the agreed terms, all the procedures so that the devices are available to students on the first day of classes. Although they had the full support of the MEC during this period, ONAC officials refused to cooperate and be proactive in identifying quick fixes, as evidenced by the catastrophic outcome of this entire process.
Worse still, the ONAC did not inform the MEC in due time about the status of the auction, although there were innumerable daily requests on this subject, ”according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.
Anisie considers “unacceptable the disastrous result of the auction, after so many months in which all the institutions involved, except ONAC, took all measures to complete the process within the established deadlines.”
“Those who will suffer from the incompetence of ONAC officials are students, teachers and parents. For these reasons, I ask the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Ludovic Orban, the removal of the President of ONAC, Cornelia Nagy, and I want the resumption, in a regime of maximum urgency, of the bidding procedures, “added Anisie.
