Senator Șerban Nicolae (PSD) posted a sour message on his social media page on Monday after PSD failed to achieve a quorum for the motion of no confidence.
„A great and unforgivable shame …”Șerban Nicolae wrote.
The session of Parliament in which the vote of no confidence was debated and voted on could not take place on Monday due to lack of a quorum. After the roll call, only 226 parliamentarians attended the meeting, requiring the presence of 233 deputies and senators.
The meeting was attended by the deputies of the national minorities and all the parliamentarians of PMP, UDMR, PNL and USR.
Among the unaffiliated senators, only Nicolae Marin, Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, Adrian Ţuţuianu, Emilia Arcan were present, and among the unaffiliated deputies – Dumitru Lovin. All 21 Pro Romania deputies were present.
Five deputies from the PSD groups were missing.
The Parliament session, which initially began at around 2:00 p.m., was suspended until 3:30 p.m., due to lack of a quorum, with only 170 MPs present. The leaders of the parliamentary groups decided to resume the session with a roll call, but even after that, the quorum of 233 MPs did not meet.
