It has been 13 years since the most publicized disappearance in Romania, that of lawyer Elodia Ghinescu. 13 years in which I had a television program, the conviction of Cristian Cioacă, in the absence of the corpse. What is left now? A memory and a child who wants to break with the “history” of his family.
Today marks the 13th anniversary of the disappearance of Elodia Ghinescu, who would remain in the memory of Romanians for a long time. The mystery of the lawyer’s disappearance is half solved. Declared dead, former police officer Cristian Cioacă was sentenced in 2014 to 15 years and eight months in prison for murder.
However, Elodia’s body was never found. Their son, who is in the care of Cristian Cioacă’s sister and her husband, does not want to be associated with the drama of their family. At least that follows from your request. The boy, now 14, wanted his request for a name change accepted.
The magistrates of the Pitești Court also decided: “It approves the change of the minor’s surname, by administrative means.”
Perhaps the wish of the son of Elodia and Cristian Cioacă was not in vain. The wish of the minor shows, I think, indirectly, that he wants to live his own life, away from the drama of his family. He was too young when his mother disappeared to miss her now. Certainly, like any motherless child, think of him. But being associated with the name of a missing mother, who was found to have been murdered by her father, who is behind bars, seems painful to anyone. Only he knows if he could forgive his father. Or what he really believes happened too.
After the TV show, we can’t forget its existence. But I think that now, 13 years after Elodia Ghinescu’s disappearance, after knowing her request to change her name, we cannot “dig in” after her election and after what will happen to her, in the future. Now we could be aware, be human above all else and let her live her adolescence in peace.
Would you like to live in the shadow of the most publicized case in Romania, in which my mother was killed by her father sent to prison? Not to mention the rumors that Elodia is actually alive and that she left her family to hurt Cristian Cioacă.
And this call does not come in vain, but after some observations made in recent days, when the “disappearance of Elodia Ghinescu” is once again in the public eye.
