Romanian citizens can still cross Hungary. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said the rules are changing for those who have Hungary as their final destination.
According to the MFA, Minister Bogdan Aurescu spoke this Saturday, by phone, with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó, asking for clarification on the information that appeared in the public space on the adoption in the next period of new restrictive measures for the management of the epidemic .

Aurescu asked his counterpart for information on the exact content of the specific measures, insisting on taking into account their impact on Romanian citizens transiting Hungary, as well as Romanian citizens, cross-border workers.
Minister Péter Szijjártó confirmed that the transit of Romanian citizens through Hungary, respectively the access of Romanian citizens – cross-border workers will not be affected.

Thus, according to the Hungarian official, the transit of the territory of Hungary will continue to be allowed under the same conditions and will be done through the same border crossings and in the same established road color. He noted that the rules that are expected to change refer to entering Hungary as the final destination of the trip. He also suggested that the relevant police authorities of the two states stay in close contact in the next period for possible technical clarifications, ”the MFA transmits.
