The protesters threw objects at the police and set the tires on fire.

Earlier on Friday, right-wing extremists burned a Koran in Malmö. The demonstrations escalated in the same place where the copy of the Koran was burned.

“We do not have the situation under control, but we are actively working to take control,” said a police spokesman.

“We see a connection between what is happening now and what happened today,” according to the cited source.

The Aftonbladet daily reports that various anti-Islam activities took place in Malmö on Friday, highlighting the incident in which three men burned a copy of the Quran in a public square.

The anti-Islamic protests came after the leader of the Danish far-right political party Hard Line, Rasmus Paludan, was denied permission to have a meeting in Malmö, and was detained on the border with Sweden, according to Aftonbladet.
