The leader of the PSD deputies, Alfred Simonis (photo), requested the rejection of the amendment to the law on the state of alert that provided for the entry into force of the law at the time of its publication in the Official Gazette. The amendment, tabled by PNL MP Florin Roman and adopted by the Legal Commission, was adopted by the Chamber Legal Commission.

After consultations between the leaders of the parliamentary groups, it was agreed to put them to a vote in plenary and reject the amendment. The initiator announced that he agrees with this solution.

“I understand that there is a possibility that the Ombudsman will have an action in the CCR based on this amendment and we must ensure that the entire body of the law is constitutional,” Roman said.

(3) The law comes into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I.“, stipulates Roman’s amendment, which, however, violates article 78 of the Constitution:

The law is published in the Official Gazette of Romania and comes into force 3 days after the date of publication or at a later date specified in its text.
