Suceava Mayor Ion Lungu said Monday that the municipality’s quarantine measure should be lifted, in conditions where the epidemiological situation has improved, the number of cases of SARS-CoV-2 infections registers a significant decrease.
Lungu said that he is constantly following the epidemiological situation and specified that, if on May 5 there were 402 cases with COVID-19, on May 8 the number of active people with COVID-19 had reached 284, the number of cases per thousand inhabitants decreased implicitly. at 3.14 to 2.22.
The mayor claims that he is doing everything in his power to show decision makers that quarantine is needed.
“We could say that this situation is good and could help us in our efforts to lift the quarantine and take special measures. (…) During this period I was in contact with the Government of Romania, I informed them of justifications, arguments, I also sent them these tables and I hope that from May 15th we will also have some relaxation measures. (…) Suceava is a normal city, Suceava is a city with normal people, with an overwhelming majority of healthy people and with some sick people , as it happens in all Romania. In Suceava we are on a ceiling of stability as it happens in many cities in Romania. So I hope that on the 15th the Government will re-analyze this quarantine status in Suceava, “said Lungu.
He announced that this issue will be discussed in the CJSU and will request the Government to propose the lifting of the quarantine state.
“The epidemic has not yet passed. Many say we have not reached the top,” said the mayor, who urged residents of Suceava to follow the rules to limit the spread of the virus, personal hygiene, isolation, self-isolation. or quarantine if necessary, spacing. social, traffic on the street and in commercial spaces.
Most of the cases are in Suceava, with a total of 3,272 infections reported here.
