All bars in Seoul will be closed again after a further increase in cases of coronavirus infection, likely caused by nightclubs in the South Korean capital, reports CNN, according to newsmaker.ro.

At a conference Saturday, Seoul Mayor Won-soon Park said that the clubs and bars would close again immediately. The decision comes after the number of cases has increased again at an accelerated rate. The new cases would be related to nightclubs in Itaewon, a district famous for the city’s nightlife.

On Thursday, a 29-year-old man in Seoul tested positive for coronavirus. The man had visited several nightclubs in the district on the night of May 1 and the morning of May 2, according to the Korean Center for Disease Prevention.

Since then, 40 other people who had contact with the young man have been positive. Of these, 27 are from Seoul.

South Korea has set new rules for a new wave of infections. At the entrance of bars and nightclubs, people have to leave their phone number and name so that they can be found more easily, later and examined.
