Romania is in a state of emergency for another week, but the mayor’s office of a sector of the Capital has opened 15 large parks today.
The deputy mayor for Sector 2 says he saw too many people running between cars. “It is not an invitation to relax, it is more a sidewalk among the trees”, the mayor explained his initiative.
President Iohannis also said Saturday that if we don’t follow the rules, we risk an explosion of new infections.
The deputy mayor of sector 2 of the Capital personally came to remove the padlock from the gate of one of the largest parks he manages.
The space closed on March 21, and Deputy Prime Minister Cristian Popescu announced at the time that the place “is crowded and represents a danger of the virus spreading.” Meanwhile, it seems that the virus is no longer such a big threat to the mayors of this sector of the capital. Today, they opened 15 other large parks that they manage.
Those who passed through the area could not believe it.
reporter: “Aren’t you afraid that too many children will gather in the park?
woman: “It is, there is a little fear, but we will be careful. Hopefully others will understand”
man: “It is good that it reopens so that we can walk. Used to. So far where? – Between the cars “
Please note that the playgrounds, the gym and the gazebos will remain closed.
The deputy mayor hoped that people would follow the rules and not crowd the alleys.
Cristian Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister of Sector 2: This openness is not an invitation to relax or ignore preventive measures. It’s more of a sidewalk, but a sidewalk through the green space, not between cars. Basically it helps social distancing “
Without commenting on the reopening of the parks, President Iohannis wanted to sound the compliance alarm again.
Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania: “We have to be very careful that when we can move a little more freely we don’t have an explosion of new infections once again. May 15 is just an administrative deadline, when the state of emergency ends, but unfortunately the epidemic is not show in retreat / Great care, please, dear Romanians, so that we don’t kick everything we’ve accomplished in the last two months with great sacrifices. “
Since Monday, the office of the mayor general also intends to open the large parks in the Capital that he manages. The parks in Bucharest, as in the whole country, were closed after the declaration of a state of emergency, by decision of the mayors.
