Work is currently underway on a new open-world Rockstar virtual reality game according to LA Noire: VR Case Files developer Video Games Deluxe.
The associate developer revealed that he is “preparing” for a new project and said he is preparing to create a new AAA virtual reality game for Rockstar. The Sydney-based Australian developer posted the news on LinkedIn, which has since appeared on Reddit.
“Now we are gearing up for a new project, an open virtual reality AAA world title for Rockstar,” the publication begins. “2020 marks our seventh year of Rockstar exclusive work in Sydney and we are excited to [be] taking on this innovative project. “
Video Game Deluxe has also said it will be hiring for various positions at its Sydney studio for the new project, including senior programmers and vacancies for a designer, animator and engine programmer.
Since the post appeared, fans have been busy speculating what Rockstar franchise could be. Thoughts, of course, quickly turned to GTA and Red Dead Redemption, but it could be something completely new. We’ve been waiting for Rockstar to announce GTA 6 for quite some time, with rumors and speculation circulating about what the next entry in the full-length series might look like and when it might be released.
Given that the work is apparently just beginning, it could be a new experience that will land on next-generation consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. For now, we can only speculate, but it’s exciting to know that Rockstar is working on a new virtual reality experience. in a big open world AAA.
