Resident Evil Netflix series officially confirmed: will tell a ‘glowing story’

After more than a year of speculation about the possibility of Netflix developing a Resident Evil series, the streaming giant has finally confirmed that an adaptation of live action from Capcom’s legendary survival horror franchise is in the works. According to Netflix, Resident Evil will tell a brand new story over two timelines. Here’s how Netflix describes the Resident Evil show in a brief synopsis:

“In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are relocating to New Raccoon City. A produced, business city that has enforced its rights as an adolescent in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they realize that the city is more than it seems and its father (Editor’s note: Albert Wesker, we accept!) can hide dark secrets. Secrets that can destroy the world. Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on earth. And more than six billion monsters – humans and animals infected with the T virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father and herself – continue to haunt her. “

While no casting information has been announced, Netflix revealed that the first season of the eight-hour episode will be brought to life by showrunner and writer Andrew Dabb (Supernatural), and director Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead), who will direct the first two episodes. Both Dabb and Hughes will serve as executive producers alongside Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben of Constantin Film, and Mary Leah Sutton.

“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time,” Dabb explained. “I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this great story and bring the very first Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those who are new to “Coming to us, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”Are you enthusiastic about a Resident Evil Netflix series?
