John Huber caught people’s attention. Then whether she was performing as Brody Lee or Luke Harper, she did the most difficult feat of wrestling.
Huber trusted the fans.
The most skilled wrestlers find a way to defuse disbelief and make people believe in the magic of their work. That is the beauty of pro wrestling. Even more meaningful than raw athletic feats, trusting someone produces a lasting connection.
Huber devoted his life to hardening and respecting his craft, brutally searching for the right look, style and character. The end result was a timeless piece in the pro wrestling arena, although it won’t come in one, heartbreaking, next chapter.
Late Saturday night when it was announced that the indestructible, ga-daardi, uninterrupted force in wrestling, Huber, had died of a lung-related illness. At just 1 year of age, when he was just hitting his prime as both an artist and a parent, Huber’s life was brutally stripped away from him.
“It doesn’t look real,” says John Good, better known as AW star John Moxley on Sunday evening. “It simply came to our notice then. I was in a very vivid dream and I was waiting to get out of it. My brain has not yet acknowledged that. Right now, I’m completely f —— numb. “
As news of the death spread on Saturday night, memories of Huber’s performance as Brody Lee at AUW and Luke Harper at WWE immediately flooded the minds of those who wanted to see him perform. Among the miners, people also reflected on the resilience and stamina that defined the work of Huber’s body in wrestling, which the industry somehow excelled at.
If Huber had emerged in pro wrestling in the early 1980s, the mind would not have wandered much before imagining the impressive, awe-inspiring passing through the territories as a Hulling monster before fighting Hulk Hogan at the World Wrestling Federation. But the style of pro wrestling has evolved over many decades, presenting an even more difficult landscape for a man bigger than life. Yet Huber found a way to create his own identity, developing a terrifying person, complete with a set of eyes that have the ability to peek into your soul. He built his reputation across India, working in a credible violent style. His work with Moxley in CZW and Evolvi, as well as with Eddie Kingston in Chicara, was particularly buzzing. It became clear to those watching that this big man was a force, ready to strike hard and ensure contact, he was nothing less than a snug.
Moxley says, “We wrestled each other the first night, we shared a hotel room later that night. “That was a decade ago. She was an incredible person. While many of us would be warm about some angle of wrestling, it would find a way to turn a negative into a positive or an inner joke. He was the exact person you wanted in the locker room. I enjoyed being around him again.
“And we wrestled a lot. Even if it was on India, in The Shield-Wyatt War, six men on home shows and six European tours, it felt like we were always together. When Tony Khan asked me about Brody in AW, I said, ‘Hell yes, I want that match.’ We can wrestle each other in sleep. It was very good. ”
Moxley also wrestled Huber in his tryout match for the WWE.
“We always joked that he would have been a substitute teacher in Rochester, if I hadn’t made him look so good, but the truth is he can’t miss this, there’s undeniable talent,” Moxley says. “He was an athletic big man who could work in circles around everyone.”
Huber needed a few words to capture the rare blend of mystery and mystery as part of the Wyatt family. Beside Bray Wyatt and Eric Rowan, the trio barely made magic on the performance of pro wrestling. Although Wyatt was the star, it was the dog who completed the act. His showdown with John Cena, The Shield, Daniel Bryan and The New Day still stands as memorable scenes capturing reality, confidence and fear, which is very difficult to do in pro wrestling.
There was also a glimpse of Huber’s in-ring brilliance as a singles performer in the WWE. Despite his tag-team victory with Rowan, Huber was always hungry for a chance to become a solo act. One of his singles title runs came six years ago, when he was awarded the Intercontinental Championship within a month. In 2014, TLC In a highly underrated ladder match in, he threw the belt back to Dolph Ziegler, crossing this 6’5 “force to make Ziegler look like a rising star.
A few months later, Huber participated in a multi-man CD match WrestleMania 31, His first match at WrestleMania. He reiterated the length he was prepared to take to see if the company could make anyone around.
“We wanted to make a highlight reel,” Moxley says. “We would have covered almost the same road if I had almost killed myself with a death bump. So we created this place where it makes me power bomb through the steel ladder from the ring to the floor, and it’s f —— sketchy. It’s a very dangerous bump, going backwards at an angle.
“It was a vague bump. Vince [McMahon] Bug out. He thought I was dead, which meant he had a good f —— bump. And we built the highlight reel. I maintain to this day that I didn’t have to trust anyone else on the planet with that bump. I put my life in his hands, and I walked away. ”
Over the next four years, Huber never found the secret of singles success in the WWE. So he took matters into his own hands.
Despite being offered aggressive compensation for his services by the WWE, Huber traveled less in pro wrestling. He gambled himself, signing with AW. Time, as it turns out, couldn’t have been worse. The epidemic alienated fans from live events, exposing wrestling as a separate entity without the magical element of a crowded crowd inside the venue. Day instead Dynamite In his hometown of Rochester, New York, Huber instead declared himself “The Exploited One” of the Dark Order on a closed set. Dynamite In the march.
Featuring Huber as the leader of The Dark Order seemed like a failed proposal, as the group was unable to engage with the audience at the time. Yet a funny thing happened on the way to the obscurity of the Dark Order, as Lee’s presence proved to be a necessary part of keeping the group alive. His humor and edge rightly corresponded to a group saying it was not a cult.
The scene will repeat itself after Huber lost a World Title match to Moxley. Double or nothing May-Per Return Naturally, after losing the World Title match, there were concerns that Huber would struggle to find his place on the advancing AW script.
Once again Huber rewrote the script.
Huber eventually dispelled any doubts about its value as a singles entity when it excluded Cody Rhodes and joined TNT in August. Captured the championship. Eventually he had the television segments to ring in the ring, as well as the time to use the microphone as his flute. As summer turned to fall, Huber made himself a worthwhile champion. Dark Order Immediately, it seemed, happened to see the appointment, which is still pending. TNT As this professional wrestler with the championship, Huber confirmed every belief about himself – despite years of skepticism and officials telling him his place was in the supporting cast, Huber showed that he had the lead role.
“It was no secret to anyone in the business how good he was,” says Moxley. “But it was always used in a utility role or part of a group. To be the focal point of his group as a solo act, he proved to be a performer at the main event. ”
Filled with surprise, Huber had a lot to offer pro wrestling. And, most importantly, for his two children and his wife, whom he loves dearly.
“He wasn’t interested in becoming famous,” Moxley says. “This is a person who will not be able to see you later. As soon as he was done with the work, he was going to his house as soon as possible. He was very proud to be a father and a husband. He loved wrestling and he was great at it, but that was his job. He was lucky enough to love his business, but his most important role in life was that of father and husband. ”
Multiple layers were a major part of Huber’s charm. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like Browser Brody aint for me either. He has an extreme sense of humor, the ability to connect with people through seven words on Twitter and the skills and passion that some of his colleagues have. But once he got to the TNT in the October 7 edition. Dynamite, Huber AW seemed to have disappeared from programming.
So far, little is known about the circumstances surrounding his illness. Their passing is an intestinal-reminiscent reminder of the fleeting nature of life. Yet it is also a very loud testimonial to the power of race wrestling. The industry is more than just entertainment. It presents an opportunity to create a piece of work that will endure. Huber made people believe in the magic of his work, and he captured the sweetness of the industry, of which poison is a fair share.
It would be a little reassuring to know that Brody Lee’s work will live on in the midst of tears, but for now, the pain and grief over the loss of this huge man of a man, a friend and an artist remains more intense.
“I am grateful to have spent so much time with India since we first met,” says Moxley. “I will always portray him with a smile on his face. I still don’t wrap my brain around this. I don’t understand why the best people take away so quickly. “
