Remedy is working on a game set in the Alan Wake and Control Universe

For a while, fans speculated about Alan Wake’s instructions for Control just cute little eggs as hints that Remedy’s two games are set meaningfully in the same spooky fictional world. Now, the studio has not only confirmed that Mr. Wake will appear in the next expansion of Control, but that they are already working on a new game set in a small place they call the Remedy Connected Universe.

“We have had a crazy dream for more than 10 years. The idea that the stories told in some of our games would be connected to each other, a connected world of stories and events with shared characters and lore. Each game is a stand-alone experience, but each game is also a gateway to a larger universe with exciting opportunities for crossover events, ”said Sam Lake, Remedy’s creative director on Friday.

‘Slowly, patiently, behind the scenes, we have plans and plans to make this a reality. I am absolutely delighted to tell you that now is the time to take the first concrete step on this path, the creation of the Remedy Connected Universe. ”

He says they are already “working hard” on a game taking place in this universe, which is a very exciting prospect.

I live for a well-connected fictional universe. Stories where the easter eggs are a little more than just obscure references, where a favorite character will simply arrive on the scene because, well, his own story took place just down the road.

However, that’s just about all we know about this new game. A few months ago, however, Remedy revealed that they were working on a few unannounced projects. One is called Vanguard and was said to be a “long-term service-based multiplayer experience”, while the other seems a bit secretive. After all, the new game in the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU?) Is that secret, but you never know, maybe Vanguard will be connected to all these interdimensional events as well.

However, before we see any of that, Control’s new DLC is coming in a few weeks. If you’ve heard of it yet, it’s called AWE, and takes place in an abandoned sector of the Old House. AWE stands for Altered World Event, which are the things you will explore in that spooky sector.

AWE will be available in the Epic Games Store when it releases on August 27th. It’s likely to be on Steam as well, as it’s the same date that Control’s Epic exclusivity ends.

Oh, and if you intend to watch a bit of AWE from afar, Remedy will stream the first 15 minutes of it over on its Twitch channel on August 13th at 5pm BST (9am PDT).
