Release date, trailer and gameplay for ‘Gotham Knights’ for WB’s Batman game


After almost a year of farming and a five-year wait since Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight, two new DC games were finally announced on Saturday, August 22 at DC FanDome. We got our first gander at the games at the same event. Meanwhile, several leaks fill in the further missing information Gotham Knights.

Here’s all we know about WB Montreal’s new game, Gotham Knights.

When is the Gotham Knights release date?

Gotham Knights will be released in 2021. WB Montreal has not yet announced a specific season or month for this release.

Which systems strain Gotham Knights to be available on?

Gotham Knights will be available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X when it launches.

Is there a trailer for that Gotham Knights?

Yes! WB has released a trailer at DC FanDome which you can watch below.

The trailer reveals quite a bit about the premise of the story. Bruce announces himself as dead to his closest cohorts. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post Arkham Knight, or of something else, like when Darkseid killed him in the comics. Rumors suggest that this will be a smooth reboot of the WBs Batman franchise.

Here we get a close look at four playable characters: Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin. Despite the hooded look, it’s Robin Drake’s Robin. Bruce Wayne’s posthumous video mentions the Belfry, a fictional secondary hideout for the Bat family operated by Tim Drake and used by DC’s fictional Gotham Knights. This will likely be used as a hub for players to choose missions and objectives in the final game. We also get a look at The Court of Owls, probably the villains this time. The screen flashes with a single Talon (a Court of Owls elite) jumping scared to the view.

What is the story of Gotham Knights?

After Batman’s death, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin must rise as the protectors of Gotham City. Unfortunately with Batman gone, an extensive, criminal underworld has swept through the streets of Gotham. From the trailer, it looks like you saw the Court of Owls and possibly Mr. Freeze should stop. The r3dakt3d teasers of the week of August 17 also implies Two-Face could be present.

Who agrees Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin and Alfred Gotham Knights?

Batgirl is pronounced by America Young, known for portraying Barbie in Barbie Dreamhouse Adventure.

Nightwing is pronounced by Christopher Sean, known for portraying Kazuda Xiono in Star Wars: Resistance.

Red Hood is pronounced by Stephen Oyoung, known for portraying Mr. Negative in Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Robin is pronounced by Sloan Mogan Siegel, known for displaying the title role in Dwight in Shining Armor

Alfred is pronounced by Gildart Jackson, known for telling audiobooks.

Is there gameplay footage for it Gotham Knights?

Yes! In addition to the Gotham Knights announcements trailer, we also have a full look at gameplay. You can view it below.

From here we can see that Gotham Knights will proceed with the bat cycle. We can also see that the game will notify you when other players join. These are different costumes then in the announcement trailer, subtle affirmative cosmetics will be available. We can also see levels on each character, confirm more RPG esque elements and that gameplay can be limited based on level.

When Batgirl defeats enemies, she gets items that appear on the left. Maybe this is our first look at a crafting system? It also appears that there is a kind of gear system involved.

The overall gameplay looks similar, but different enough from Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series. The freeflow system seems to be lacking in this iteration of Batman.

Does Gotham Knights have multiplayer?

Yes! We see that there is co-op available in the gameplay trailer. In the middle of the gameplay, the top right corner says “Robin is in the session.”

How players can play Gotham Knights multiplayer?

You can play online with 1-2. Unfortunately you can not run with a posse of four and split-screen is also not available.

Are there Gotham Knights leaks or rumors?

Yes! There are rumors, but they differ in reliability.

One rumor from Reddit in May 2020, Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker claim Arkham Origins will return to their respective roles while making the following appearances:

“Soft restart, no Arkham title, ignores previous plots. Gameplay and mechanics of Arkham Knight carry over. Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl are all playable. Biggest open world Gotham City yet. Vehicles are in but no auto field battles. Some villains include Joker, Harley Quinn, Court of Owls, Ra’s al Ghul, Penguin, Riddler, Dollmaker, Clock King and Black Mask. “

Both rumors have not yet received definitive credibility, but they are both definite possibilities based on what we know about the game.

How does that work? Gotham Knights connect with previous Batman Arkham match?

Gotham Knights is not associated with the Batman: Arkham series. The last title of WB Montréal kicks off its own universe.
