Tuolumne County Public Health
Sonora, CA – Tuolumne County Public Health reports five new Tuolumne County residents have been identified. Two from Saturday, two from Sunday and one today. Four of the individuals were isolated, one was recovered and one was left hospital.
Known Tuolumne tests: 9,145, positive 165 (85 females and 77 males), hospital 0, active cases 6, total recovered 157. Of the 165 known Tuolumne residents who tested positive for coronavirus since March, 157 were released from isolation . The 157 are reported as ‘recovering’ although they may have never experienced any noticeable symptoms or may continue to have suffering health problems related to the virus. Contact tracing will continue, limited details will be released to the public to protect individual privacy and to comply with HIPPA regulations.

Tuolumne County Public Health Updates
Public Health will present a COVID-19 update to the Board of Supervisors tomorrow, Tuesday 18 Augustth at 9 AM.
The California Department of Public Health reports that they have updated their County Data Monitoring list now that the recent backlog of data has been removed. To consistently reflect the data and how the disease affects our communities, the state has updated its data, and retroactively updated the County Data Monitoring list for each day over the entire impact period (from July 25 onwards). Tuolumne County Public Health will notify the state of our status and will provide an update when we receive written confirmation.
Due to the extreme heat event, cooling centers will be open from 11 AM – 7 PM until Wednesday 19 Augustth as detailed here. Calaveras Cooling Center information is here. PG&E asks the public to limit energy consumption to help prevent power outages as described in detail here.
If you have COVID-like symptoms, isolate yourself and contact your health care provider such as the Adventist Health Triage Line at 209-536-5166 Monday, or 209-536-5000 after hours. The state-of-the-art test site is open at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds Tuesday – Saturday 7 to 7 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled in advance at: https://lhi.care/covidtesting Appointments are highly recommended as walking opportunities are extremely limited. The site now offers testing for children 3 years and older (accompanied by a parent or caregiver).
It is important that people adhere to prevention guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including:
- Exercise physical distance at the same time. Keep 6 feet of space between yourself and others who are not part of your household. Stay in your household bubble!
- Wear a face mask in public.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and often.
- Avoid meetings of any size with people who are not part of your household.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid unnecessary travel, and limit your trips to essential tasks.
