Reaction time: Servus Leroy! What does this mean for Bayern?

It’s done. Finally it’s over. Not even 15 minutes after I woke up at my home in Heidelberg, Germany, on a beautiful, clear, and clear day, the long-awaited news came that we all knew would come. At approximately 9:00 am Central European Time, FC Bayern officially announced and introduced its new star player, German international Leroy Sané.

So now that the transfer saga (the last time I counted, we finally hit 100 articles here at BFW regarding Sané’s transfer here) is finally over, the question must be asked “What does this mean for Bayern?”

Well, in my eyes, Bayern now officially has what I would consider the best front-3 in the world, rivaled only by healthy Liverpool. Depending on where Sané is aligned, there is the possibility of devastation for the defense of the oppositions. If you line up left with Alphonso Davies, you have two of the fastest players in the world that no defense could cope with. If you line up to the right, you’ll have the shifting and creative Kingsley Coman and Sané on the field together slicing and chopping the defense.

Sané only brings a lethality to the wings that Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have lacked. I mean, just look at this montage of amazing goals he has scored throughout his career:

And his goals are not the “craziest” thing about this transfer. Frankly, it is its price. FC Bayern were able to get Sané from Manchester City with a robbery of € 45m, which is significantly lower than the initial asking price north of € 100m last summer.

To tell the truth, if we look back at this whole series of transfers, the dominoes kept falling. The team played poorly enough with Niko Kovać earlier in the season to warrant his dismissal and the promotion of our lord and savior Hansi Flick. FC Bayern recovered from an early deficit and dominated all facets of the game in all competitions. Alphonso Davies became a revelation on the left side and won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year. Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller set goals and attendance records for the Bundesliga, respectively. And that was it without Sané.

FC Bayern held firm when Mahrez’s use of a questionable nasal spray cost FC Bayern a healthy Sané last summer. Manchester City wanted to play hard with Bayern and Dikembe Mutombo’d them. We knew that Sané wanted to join us. It was just a matter of time. This is just another example of FC Bayern’s incredible ability to dominate the transfer market by recruiting elite players at very low prices.

If you ask someone at BFW (Mirándote INNN), this transfer saga became everything we could think of. It consumed our time. But boy, oh boy, are we glad he’s here and finally be ours. We are all eager to finally see him on the field with the iconic no. 10) Servus Leroy!
