Rare game boy accessory comes back after almost 30 years

Nintendo has introduced a number of unique peripherals for its systems over the years, but there are some that were canceled before seeing a full release like Workboy. Peripheral was intended to return to the ’90s for GameBoy, and could turn the handheld into a functional PDA. When WorkBoy was canceled before mass production began, Liam Robertson of Did Yukon Gaming discovered a prototype provided by Frank Balouz. Balause oversaw the workboy for the fabtech, and turned out to be the prototype for the keyboard. There was only one problem: it needed a cartridge to run, which the Boulz did not have.

However, as luck would have it, the latest Nintendo leaks have provided code for the Unlimited software and assets to the Internet. The code for the Workboy software was part of the leak, and Robertson was able to put that code on the cartridge so that the Workboy could move on and on! Robertson was then able to test the device and share its findings on YouTube! Robertson’s video on the peripherals can be embedded below.

Workboy would have been created in collaboration with Source Research and Development and FabTech, and would have been officially licensed by Nintendo. Peripherals could have been published, when personal computers were very expensive, and long before the popularity of cell phones. The Workboy would have retained લ 79-89 dollars, and featured many functions such as a world clock, an address book, the ability to convert currency, and more. Given that most of these features can be easily found on most modern cell phones, it looks like Workboy was ahead of its time! Unfortunately, Periphery was canceled after Nintendo announced plans to reduce the price of Game Boy. As such, it would be more expensive than a workboy system, which would turn off potential buyers.

There are many stories like Workboy in the video game industry. From the finished games without seeing the release, to the finished games, like the legendary “Nintendo Play Station,” to to-s’s, Workboy is in very good company. However, thanks to Robertson’s tireless efforts, Nintendo fans and video game history enthusiasts can get a glimpse of what can happen now!
