Randy Gregory of the Dallas Cowboys was conditionally reinstated by the NFL

The Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory was conditionally undone by the NFL on Friday, and he thanked the league for giving him a “second chance” on social media.

Gregory could report to the team for the COVID-19 test on Monday and participate in conditioning activities, individual workouts and meetings, sources told ESPN’s AdWords. He can start practice with the team in the week of October 5, and he will be eligible to participate in the games after the team’s Week 6 game on October 19.

“Today is a day of celebration and thanksgiving,” Gregory said Posted on Twitter. “… this time is going to go. I’m in a good place and plan to use this second chance to be a great dad, player, Dallas citizen and teammate. Let’s meet this !!! # RG94”

Gregory thanked, among others, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Cowboy owner Jerry Jones and NFLPA Executive Director De Maurice Smith.

The Cowboys are due to cut the roster to 53 players by Saturday but it is likely they will get some sort of relief where Gregory is not in the final roster count.

Gregory was on indefinite notice for several violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy, which has been his rookie year since 2015.

She missed last season after playing 14 games in 2018 and finishing with six sacks, which was second on the team. He lost 30 of his regular-season 32 games in 2016 and ’17 due to suspension. He has played only 28 of the 80 regular-season games possible in his career.

The Cowboys selected Gregory in the second round in 2015 and stood by him. Gregory was blocked by the league last year due to suspension, the team had short-term extensions.

The report is contributed by Todd Archer of ESPN.
