Rachel Cargle shared on Facebook that she and Lin-Manuel Miranda worked together to find parallels between Hamilton’s lyrics and current times to draw attention to everything that is happening in the world right now.
In the post, Cargle shared:
“A few weeks ago I published a post about how Americans seemed to make a freak with Hamilton’s musical, but they couldn’t understand the powerful freedom movements blacks were calling for.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda approached me and we worked together to find parallels between his lyrics and current times to use as yet another tool to draw attention to the realities of what is happening here and now.
Slide your finger. Make some connections. But your “uh-huh” moment is not enough. The ongoing action against racism looks beyond a moment of passive empathy. It is taking responsibility for the roles we play at this moment in history and DOING something about it in every way you can.
