One prisoner claims he was “pressured” to attack Kelly in the hope of drawing attention to government corruption and getting world news notifications. ”
R Kelly asks the judge to release him on bail after he was attacked by an inmate last week.
In the motion filed Friday (Sept. 4), Kelly’s attorney Michael I. Leonard Says the Bureau could not only protect its client from Prf Prison, but the facility staff actually encouraged the inmate to attack the singer.
As evidence, Leonard presented a handwritten motion to the judge confessing to the attack from prisoner Jeremiah Farmer. In the motion titled “Government Mad Attack R-Kelly,” the farmer said, after he told a mental health professional at the facility of his plan to attack Kelly, the man encouraged him to “go do it.” The farmer says he was forced to “attack hip-hop R&B singer Robert Kelly on # 09627-035” in the hope of drawing attention to government corruption and getting world news notices.
After the attack last week, R. Kelly’s other attorney, Douglas C. Anton told Billboard that his client was not doing a “good job” and was also injured. Anton said officers who improved the facility could have done more to protect Kelly’s safety.
Anton has been arguing for Kelly’s release in preparation for the hearing but has repeatedly denied it. Kelly had previously requested to be released due to COVID-19 outbreak and was again informed that she is a precursor to diabetes. Both requests were denied.
“It’s cruel and unusual,” Anton said. He is innocent until proven guilty. There is an innocent person in my jail who cannot get out of jail so that we can prepare for the hearing. “
Anton said the hearing date has already been postponed due to Covid-19 and no new trial date has been set.
“Everything is withheld,” he added. It’s a horrible situation. I have never been stronger in dealing with the punch and what is said about it after the punch. He has no way of answering. What we want is a fair test. We don’t even know Jane Dodge’s name. We don’t even have their statements …. we are not saying anything except we want justice. “
Kelly is facing charges of racketeering, forcing a minor, transporting a minor and engaging in illegal sexual activity in New York. Allegations related to six different victims. The indictment alleges that for two decades R. Kelly was the leader of a racing enterprise made up of managers, bodyguards, drivers, personal assistants and runners who recruited women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity with the singer. The sexual activity was often filmed and photographed by Kelly, according to a filing in court by the Justice Department. He is also awaiting a hearing in Illinois on various abuse allegations and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
