R. Kelly attacked by inmates in Chicago jail

R. Kelly was “attacked” by another inmate in prison, R&B singer’s lawyer Steve Greenberg confirmed to Yahoo Entertainment. Kelly, real name Robert Sylvester Kelly, has been in custody at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center for more than a year since he was charged with federal child pornography, obstruction of justice and charges of racketeering.

Kelly’s lawyer again called on the government to release his client.

“However, it’s time to release Mr Kelly. The government can not guarantee his safety, and they can not give him his day in court. We must not lock people up indefinitely, because we can not provide them with a proper process, “Greenberg added. (Earlier this year, a judge denied the Grammy winner’s request to be released from prison over coronavirus concerns.)

According to TMZ, “a frustrated prisoner attacked and jumped Kelly into his cell.” The report states that the man was “angry about the detention facility being locked up several times, largely by Kelly Protestants outside prison.” The sources of TMZ claim that the singer decided to be okay after being examined by a doctor.

Kelly, 53, also faces a separate federal lawsuit in Brooklyn. Earlier this month, three of the singer’s associates were arrested for separate arrangements to harass, threaten, intimidate and bribe alleged victims in the case. In one incident, prosecutors allege that a car was set on fire to intimidate a woman from testifying.

The singer “Ignition” has denied all claims against him.
