Queen’s ‘Greatest Hit’ Notches UK Chart Milestone

The legendary rock outfit Great Successes The album (Virgin) marks an impressive milestone by spending 900 weeks on the Official Top 100 Albums, and is only the third album to do so.

Launched in 1981, the hindsight of the race is behind only Bob Marley and the Wailers‘1984 comes to the Legend album (933 weeks) and ABBA Gold compilation, the UK’s oldest Top 100 album in history, at 949 weeks, according to Official Charts Company.

There is a category in which Queen’s Great Successes supreme queen. It is the best-selling album in the history of British recorded music with over six million copies sold, reports the OCC.

The achievement of more than 900 weeks occurs around the same time as the band celebrates 50 years since their first concert in London on July 18, 1970 at Imperial College, and 35 years since Freddie mercury and Co. rocked Wembley Stadium for Live Aid on July 13, 1985.

Of the Queen Great Successes enjoyed four weeks at number 1 and includes hits “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Flash”, “Killer Queen”, “You’re My Best Friend”, “Somebody To Love”, “We Are The Champions”, “We Will Rock You “and” Under Pressure “, his collaboration with David Bowie.

The album is currently at n. # 16 on the list and should hit a 902 week when the weekly survey is released late on Friday (July 17).

Earlier this month, Royal Mail released a stamp collection to mark the group’s 50th anniversary. The Royal Mint recently celebrated the band with an official UK currency.
