If you wake up this morning to find that you don’t have a lot of services on the Internet, don’t worry, it’s not just you. Early this morning, outages with Centurilink disrupted services for many people around the world.
When I woke up this morning, my home security system was disconnected from Wi-Fi and connected to its LTE connection. I quickly noticed that I have a lot of other services that don’t seem to be working when connected to Wi-Fi.
I initially thought it had something to do with my local internet provider, but as the rest of the US started waking up, it became clear that this outage was widespread. DownDector is reporting issues with Amazon, Starbucks, Chase, Goddard, Venmo and countless others.
Hulu’s search on Twitter also showed that many users were having trouble accessing the service this morning. So it’s safe to say that if you’re having problems with your internet this morning, it’s not just you.
CenturyLink purchased Level 3 in 2017, and it provides core IP, voice, video and content distribution to many Internet carriers in North America, Latin America, Europe and parts of Asia.
