From what we know so far, it looks like the PS5 will revolutionize the way games are developed and played, and according to Epic Games, we’d be right to think about it.
In an interview with our friends in the official PlayStation magazine (via GamesRadar), Epic Games Vice President of Engineering Nick Penwarden called the PlayStation PS5 a “masterpiece of system design,” having used the PS5 development kit to create your awesome Unreal 5 tech demo.
“The PlayStation 5 is a masterpiece of system design,” Penwarden told OPM. “Not only is it driving a huge leap in computing and graphics performance, but it’s also revolutionary in terms of storage and data compression technology, unlocking new types of games and experiences for players to enjoy.”
Does what it says on the tin
The PS5 appears to live up to expectations, with Sony’s bullish claim that the next-gen console “will revolutionize the gaming experience for users” is seemingly becoming reality.
Not too surprising, as we know the PS5 will be an enormously powerful console, with its super-fast SSD that promises fast charging and its Tempest 3D audio that promises a more immersive gaming experience.
But the next generation processing power will not only make games more immersive. According to Kim Libreri, CTO of Epic Games, it will allow “enabling completely new game concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much better physics, smarter artificial intelligence and richer multiplayer experiences.”
