The Professor Layton series of puzzle games has been incredibly popular since its debut on the Nintendo DS, and the first two games have already been ported to Android. Now, the third title of the original trilogy, Professor Layton and the Unrolled Future, is coming to mobile devices later this month.

This is Professor Layton’s third mainstream game to hit mobile platforms, after Professor Layton and the Curious Village was ported in 2018, followed by Professor Layton and the Devil Box in 2019. Like the other entries in the series, Unwound Future is an adventure game in which you solve puzzles of local citizens, while full-motion video segments help advance the story.

Trailer for the original version of Nintendo DS 2010

The game follows Professor Layton when he receives a letter from the future, written by his assistant Luke Triton, explaining that London has fallen into total chaos after the world’s first time machine was revealed. The professor and current Luke set out to investigate the letter and prevent a chaotic future from happening.

The original version was released for the Nintendo DS in 2008, but was not translated into English or other languages until 2010. It received positive reviews from both critics and gamers, and the title is still 86/100 on Metacritic. Like the other mobile ports, Unwound Future will have improved HD graphics compared to the original DS game.

Professor Layton and Unrolled Future does not appear to be available for pre-enrollment on the Play Store, but stay tuned on July 13.

As promised, Professor Layton and the unrolled future is now available

Finally, the three original Professor Layton titles are finally available on the Play Store, thanks to the arrival of Layton: Unwound Future in HD. As Corbin detailed in the previous article, Unwound Future plays just like the previous two entries in the series, so today’s release is an adventure game in which you’ll be tasked with solving puzzles to progress through the game’s history. This means that you can play 200 puzzles, riddles, and logic puzzles, which usually lead players 16 hours or so to complete the main campaign. Considering Unwound Future is indeed a premium version, the starting price of $ 13.99 isn’t too bad, because you clearly get a long puzzle that still well reviewed to this day.
