Princess Diana spent her adult life being chased by paparazzi.

During a 2016 appearance on The Late Late Show with James CordenRussell related the story of how Diana came to stay in the Colorado house he and Hawn share.
“It was a series of things, I made a movie called Backdraft that there was a real London premiere and he sat between Lady Di and Prince Charles, which was an interesting experience, ”he said with a smile. “Things were not going well.”

When the film was released in 1991, Charles and Diana’s marriage had been shaky. In 1992, they would officially separate.
At the event, Diana shared with Russell how she did not like the constant attention of the paparazzi. In turn, Russell offered the place in Colorado as “a good getaway.”
It was not until a few years later that Diana visited the house with her children, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

According to Express, in an episode of The view Before William’s royal wedding in 2011 with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Hawn discussed the trip to Colorado. She explained how Sarah, Duchess of York, Diana’s ex-sister-in-law, helped organize the holidays.
“Fergie (Sarah, Duchess of York) called me,” said Hawn. “This is in the early 90s … She said, ‘My girlfriend needs a place to go where there is no paparazzi. Could she go to the ranch? And we (Hawn and Russell) said,’ Of course. ‘
So Diana and her children made their way to Hawn and Russell’s Colorado home for 10 days.
