Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were reportedly frustrated with the royal family, a new biography on the couple’s claims and their attempts to have conversations on the matter “led nowhere.” Internal events led Prince Harry and Meghan to seek an escape from the family and their royal duties.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were increasingly frustrated, says book
In the new biography, Finding freedom: Harry, Meghan and the creation of a modern royal family, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand share their vision of what the Sussexs had to face within the royal family.
Given Scobie and Durand’s account, it’s not surprising that Prince Harry and Meghan were more frustrated with their real lives.
“Since they got married, Harry and Meghan had enjoyed shooting their own shots,” said the excerpt from the book published in The Times.
“Harry and Meghan liked to be in control of their narrative,” a source shared with the authors. The couple found that “agreeing to move their home to Buckingham Palace, rather than creating their own independent court, had been a great disappointment to them,” according to Scobie and Durand.
Sussex reportedly felt they had no support
While the Sussexs’ popularity grew after their wedding and “made the monarchy more identifiable,” according to the authors, they struggled with the feeling that they had no support.
The authors shared that “there were concerns that the couple should be incorporated into the fold; otherwise, the establishment feared that their popularity might overshadow that of the royal family.”
“Increasingly, Harry had become frustrated that he and Meghan often put other family members in the background,” the book explains. When the Sussexs “wanted to focus on a project,” the authors wrote, “they were told that a senior family member, be it Prince William or Prince Charles, had an initiative or tour announced at the same time, by what I would just have to wait. “

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s problems were not addressed due to the royal communication system
Prince Harry and Meghan hoped to solve some of these problems, but the book claims they couldn’t get anywhere due to the way communication works in the palace.
“For months, the couple tried to express these frustrations, but the conversations led nowhere,” the authors explained. “Highly emotional and fiercely protective of his wife and son, Harry felt drained by the unique circumstances of his family.”
A source shared that attendees are often involved in the communication, so Prince Harry and Meghan’s frustrations were not addressed. “Every conversation, every problem, every personal disagreement, whatever it may be, involves the staff,” the source explained.
They added: “It creates a really weird environment that doesn’t really allow people to figure things out for themselves.” As a result, the source said: “They felt under pressure. They felt they were alone. “
When they were unable to resolve these matters, Prince Harry and Meghan decided that walking away from their royal duties was the only option. “He and Meghan did not want to get away from the monarchy; rather, they wanted to find a happy place within him, “the authors explained.
