Power Five ADs tell Dennis Dodd NCAA football cancellation unchanged

Now, after a day of sad news in the world of college football, we will not put this one in the glass-half-full category either.

According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, two prominent Power Five athletic directors have told him that ‘unforgettable’ college football will not be played this fall. Well, it’s not a deal, and nothing is official yet, but according to Dodd, these two are some powerful decision makers when it comes to the fate of sports this fall.

The reason is exactly what you think it is. On the tails for the Mid-American Conference covering its 2020 football season, the Big Ten pausing any progression to pads, players collaborating to take a stand, and others choosing them for the season, there is a growing sentiment that there is simply no way to keep all this on the narrow path after having a season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for the timing, Dodd is of the opinion that from what he hears, a decision should be reached at the end of next week.

None of this is of course great news, and we need to remember that 2020 has repeatedly reminded us to take things in stride. As such, we will continue with plans for a season for Ohio State, but it is definitely not looking good.
