The Portuguese driver finished the French Grand Prix in sixth place.

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (KTM) considers that the sixth place obtained this Sunday in the MotoGP Grand Prix of France “is a good result”, after starting from 12th position.

“Sixth place is a good result for us because, at the same time, it was my first wet race in MotoGP,” said the Almada rider.

Oliveira went through 17th place before recovering to fourth, momentarily. As he prepared to attack fourth position again, Italian Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati), at the last corner, was surprised by Frenchman Johan Zarco (Ducati), who relegated the Tech3 rider to sixth final position.

“It was a good race, I had to handle the tires well. In the last laps I tried to prepare an overtake of ‘Dovi’. I prepared too much and Zarco, who was two seconds away, ended up taking advantage of it. Still it was a good race and this is the most important thing, to be competitive, “said Miguel Oliveira, in statements released by his press office.

The Portuguese recalls that “there are still five races left and there are many points at stake”, so there are still “many opportunities to finish ahead”.

Miguel Oliveira also considered that, “at least fifth place has been today’s result”, but he is already “focused” on what he can do “in the next races.

With this sixth place, which is equivalent to the third best result of the season, achieved in the Czech Republic (he also has a fifth in the Rimini Riviera and a victory in Styria), the Portuguese rider maintains the ninth position, with 69 points, 46 the leader, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), when there are still 125 points in dispute.
