A few minutes ago, Gmail started displaying the message “Wow … the system encountered a problem (# 2014). Gmail has temporarily lost access to your contacts. You may encounter problems as long as this situation persists.”

After this first error, other Google services began to fail and are currently unavailable.

Gmail, YouTube and other Google services below

Google services are apparently out of order worldwide. In the Downdetector service, you can see a red spot all over Europe and in major cities around the world. The following map refers to Gmail, the first in which we detected the problem, with the message:

Oops ... the system encountered a problem (# 2014). Gmail has temporarily lost access to your contacts. You may encounter problems as long as this situation persists.

Besides Gmail, other Google services have been down for thousands of users for a few minutes. Services such as Google Drive, Play Store, Google Analytics, YouTube, are some examples.

The Google Workspace Health Dashboard has not yet been updated. Therefore, there is no official indication by Google of the problem or the services actually affected.
