Your municipality can leave the list of “severe restrictions”

[ad_1]

Portugal is going through a delicate moment with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are many daily cases, the limit of hospitalizations in intensive care units is approaching and there are already 191 municipalities with “strong” restrictions.

However, the Government wants to make changes and define a scale of severity for the municipalities.

COVID-19: Your municipalities can leave the list of

At this time, all the municipalities that register more than 240 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in the last 14 days, are included in the list of "municipalities at risk". The measure is generalized and penalizes, to a great extent, the municipalities with low population density. In addition, a municipality with an incidence rate slightly higher than 240 cannot be compared with another with a rate above 2,000. As a solution to the problem, the Government intends to define a scale of severity for the municipalities.

According to the parliamentary leader of Los Verdes at the end of an audience with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the intention will be to maintain the curfew after 1:00 p.m. on the weekend only for municipalities with more than 960 active infections. for every 100,000 inhabitants, reveals the TSF.

Municipalities severity scale

According to deputy José Luís Ferreira, the scale should have three levels of severity:

  • between 240 and 480 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, the municipalities will have less restrictions;
  • between 480 and 960 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, the municipalities will have a slightly higher level of restriction;
  • above 960 cases counties will have more intense restrictions for every 100,000 residents.

According to the latest DGS data, there are currently 28 municipalities above the level defined by the Government for the strongest restrictions. With 480 to 960 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days, there are around 60 regions. Between 240 and less than 480 cases there are around a hundred municipalities.
