ChemiTek, a startup based in Barcelos and a production unit in Esposende, which is part of the Startup Braga community, took advantage of the know how and the production unit to launch a hand and surface disinfection product to combat covid-19.

“We investigated the various problems that alcohol brought, especially associated with the flammability and dehydration it brings to the skin. To do something innovative, we formulated a disinfectant that does not harm the skin or surfaces and is really effective for SARS-CoV-2 ”, highlights César Martins, CEO of ChemiTek.

The product is called Sani Protect and it has received, in recent days, the EN 14476 standard certificate, granted by one of the most important European laboratories in the area, the RD. BRILL + PARTNER GMBH, Germany.

The certificate attests that the product eliminates the new coronavirus in 30 seconds, being also effective against other viruses such as hepatitis, flu or herpes, among others.

This disinfectant was developed and perfected in order to “have the best performance in eliminating viruses, bacteria and fungi, as it is made with a base of didecyl dimethylammonium chloride”.

The product is certified for the elimination of encapsulated viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and Ebola (according to EN 14476: 2019), bacteria (according to EN 1276: 2019) and fungi (according to EN 1650: 2019) and is notified to the Directorate General Health (DGS), complying with all biocidal standards.

The product developed by the Barcelos company can be used to disinfect hands, technological equipment and surfaces, without resorting to alcohol and thus guaranteeing the integrity of the skin.
